The Beauty in the Suffering – 6 Week Series

Lily of the Valley Catholic Ministry, in collaboration with Hope’s Garden, will sponsor this six week series hosted by instructor Nicky Verna, M. Th. This event is being offered for free. Please consider making the suggested donation of $60 for the series.

We are all familiar with suffering, but as Catholics, we are encouraged in Christ to see the immense beauty in the suffering. In this course, we will unpack the beautiful Apostolic Letter by Pope St. John Paul II:

Salvifici Doloris
(On the Christian Meaning of Suffering)

Monday Evenings 7:30 – 9:00 PM EST
September 16 – October 21
Location: Zoom

Each evening, we will unpack a section of this rich theology of suffering as we pray through the Pope’s words and reflect on provoking questions to expand our understanding of the Christian meaning of suffering and its redemptive value.

Sessions will conclude with Visio Divina. We will gaze upon a sacred image which speaks to that session’s theme, pray with Scripture and reflect through conversation and discussion.

Instructor: Nicky Verna, M.Th.
Nicky holds a Masters in Theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary School of Theological Studies where she attended with her husband, Tom, who is a Permanent Deacon in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

September is the Month of our Lady of Sorrows. We will meet each Monday evening at 7:30 PM EST from September 16 to October 21, the eve of the Feast of St. John Paul the Great.
